Welcome to the Marine Ecology and Sustainable Coastal Management Research Group Advancing Science for Resilient Marine Ecosystems and Sustainable Coastal Futures

The Marine Ecology and Sustainable Coastal Management Research Group at the University of Jordan advances interdisciplinary research to support the conservation and sustainable use of marine ecosystems in the Gulf of Aqaba and the Red Sea. The group focuses on coral reefs, seagrass ecosystems, coastal processes, and ecosystem resilience under climate change and human pressures. Through integrative approaches combining marine ecology, climate science, GIS, and environmental monitoring, the group generates scientific knowledge to inform evidence-based coastal management and Blue Economy strategies.
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 14 (Life Below Water), the group contributes to biodiversity conservation, ecosystem resilience, and sustainable coastal development. Through strong international partnerships and regional collaboration, the group positions the University of Jordan as a leading center for marine science, innovation, and policy-relevant research in the Red Sea region....More
