The panel discussion was held in line with His Majesty's vision to develop strategic national directions for the sustainability and investment of the National Seed Bank, thereby contributing to strengthening national food security. The discussion included a select group of experts and specialists from the University of Jordan, Mutah University, and the Jordan University of Science and Technology, along with a number of retirees from the National Center for Agricultural Research, within a participatory approach that maximizes the utilization of accumulated national expertise.

Dr. Rawashdeh emphasized that the workshop is part of an applied scientific approach aimed at utilizing scientific research to build sustainable national policies for managing plant genetic resources. He pointed to His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein's recent meetings in the United States, which underscored the importance of linking the Jordanian National Seed Bank with international banks. This connection would contribute to the bank's development, enhance its sustainability, and open avenues for research and scientific collaboration. Colleagues from the Faculty of Agriculture contributed fruitful and constructive insights to formulate the necessary national policies, maximize the practical benefits of the National Seed Bank, and strengthen collaboration among relevant institutions.

The participants concluded with a set of strategic recommendations, most notably the development of a comprehensive national strategy for the National Seed Bank, strengthening partnerships with official and academic bodies, linking the bank to genetic improvement programs, building the capacity of technical staff, and preparing proactive risk management plans to support the sustainability of agricultural genetic resources. The workshop concluded with a field visit to the National Seed Bank's departments, during which participants learned about the mechanisms for preserving plant genetic resources and the technologies used to conserve biodiversity and ensure its sustainability for future generations.
