He is a professor of Horticulture and he got his PhD from Colorado State University, USA in horticulture sciences and systems.

He as the Director of Agricultural Research and Experiment Station, KSU. He was also the Deputy Dean, College of Food and Agricultural Sciences, and later the Dean, College of Food and Agricultural Sciences, King Saud University. And later the Dean of College of Science and Humanitarian Studies in Alghat Province, Almajmaa. He was the President of the Saudi Society for Agricultural Sciences. He is a member of major Saudi related committees.

He has a H index of 31. And he is interested in Controlled Environment Agriculture, Biotechnology and Tissue Culture, Environmental Stress physiology, Seed Physiology, Germplasm Conservation. He is engaged in major breeding to develop drought tolerant and salinity tolerant lines of tomatoes. He deploys major physiological, biochemical, agronomic parameters in addition to qPCR gene expression and data analysis of major responsive genes.

He has more than 120 publication in the field in major refereed journals.​
