Prof. Monther Sadder, Department of Horticulture and Crop Science, School of Agriculture, University of Jordan, Jordan
He is Professor of Plant Biotechnology, and got his PhD from University of Hohenheim, Germany, working on physical mapping of DNA molecular marker related to major QTLs on maize chromosomes using CISS and FISH technologies.
He was the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science head at the University of Jordan for three years, and he was a distinguished visiting researcher at King Saud University for five years.
He is interested in abiotic stresses such as drought and salinity in major plant species including tomatoes and wheat. He is also investigating memo genes and epigenetic control under stress in plants.
Major achievements include whole genome analysis using NGS and RNAseq for 'Mehras' historic olive cultivar in Jordan, which adapted to local conditions. In addition to whole genome analysis using NGS and RNAseq for native Jordanian Mediterranean saltbush accessions adapted to saline soils. In addition, he was engaged in developing salt tolerant tomato breeding lines.
He published more than 90 refereed articles in related journals and advised multiple MSc and PhD students.
