Dr. Amal Harb, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Yarmouk University, Jordan

She is a Professor of Plant Biology and get her PhD from Virginia Tech, USA, where she was studying major gene expression and analysis in plant model Arabidopsis.

She is a faculty (teaching and research) at Yarmok University, and had spent a spatial at the University of Jordan in the past.

She is interested in drought stress in barley (cultivars and wild relatives. She studies climate change and drought challenges on the growth and productivity of barley crop. She studied seminal roots and coleoptile as they play an important role in crop establishment and growth. She is engaged in assessment of the adaptive changes at an early stage of development using a resurrection approach on populations of wild barley [Hordeum vulgare subsp. spontaneum (C. Koch)] applying genetic variability analysis.

She has more than 25 publications in the field and advised multiple Msc students.
