The University of Jordan Launches a Specialized Research Group to Advance the Role of Academic Libraries in the Digital Age
In a pioneering step that reflects its commitment to research excellence and digital transformation, the University of Jordan has launched a new research group titled "Academic Libraries." The initiative aims to redefine the role of libraries within higher education environments and enhance their status as hubs for innovation and knowledge production.
The group seeks to examine the rapid changes in academic library services, with a focus on leveraging modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and machine learning to improve user experience and ensure equitable access to information for all students, including those with disabilities.
A key aspect of the initiative is reimagining traditional library spaces into inclusive hybrid environments that foster self-directed learning and collaborative work. It also involves analyzing user behavior in the post-pandemic era to better understand shifts in the use of digital and print resources and to offer flexible, integrated solutions.
