Dr. Rima Wahid Al Hasan, Assistant Professor in Operations and Innovation Management and Assistant Dean for Quality and Local Accreditation affairs at the Business School, participated in the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) 2024 held in Washington, D.C., USA. These annual meetings bring together global economic leaders, academics, and activists to discuss key global issues ranging from sustainable development to enhancing economic resilience.
As an academic in the field of innovation and operations management, Dr. Al Hasan joined sessions that examined the enablers and barriers to innovation. These sessions included discussions led by experts across sectors to explore solutions for bridging the “missing middle" between idea and implementation—a stage where many entrepreneurs, innovators, and researchers encounter challenges in transforming ideas into reality. Discussions highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration, practical support for early-stage entrepreneurs, and the need to enhance flexible infrastructure to drive economic growth. Additionally, Dr. Al Hasan's participation included attending sessions on “green jobs" and youth employment opportunities, with discussions focused on promoting the green economy and creating environmentally friendly job opportunities for young people, supporting the transition toward a sustainable future.
In addition to representing the university, Dr. Al Hasan attended in her volunteer capacity with AlphaZULU Advocates, a UK-based non-profit organization that focuses on advancing the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) worldwide. Her volunteer role with AlphaZULU Advocates primarily on SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). Dr. Al Hasan represents AlphaZULU's efforts to foster innovative practices and entrepreneurship to achieve positive economic, social, and environmental impact in the region and Jordan.
