Members of the research group—Dr. Marta Riquelme, Dr. Rima Al Hasan, Dr. Ghadafi Razak, and Dr. Sadaf Aman—presented a paper titled "Navigating the Sustainability-Resilience Paradox in the Innovation Ecosystem" at the European Operations Management Association (EurOMA) Annual Conference, held in Barcelona, Spain, in July 2024.
The paper draws on paradox theory to explore the interplay between sustainability and resilience in organizations within the innovation ecosystem. Employing both quantitative and qualitative data, the study presents two key findings:
(1) It identifies four clusters of organizations within the European innovation ecosystem, categorized by their orientations toward resilience and sustainability.
(2) It highlights four underlying tensions that organizations face when pursuing sustainability and resilience goals. These tensions correspond to performing, belonging, learning, and organizing paradoxes.
Presenting our research at prestigious conferences like EurOMA is vital for sharing findings with fellow researchers in the field of operations management. It also provides an invaluable opportunity to network with esteemed scholars and advance collaborations within the academic community.
