"Teaching Islam : Methods and Approache" Research Group is pleased to announce that Professor Paul L. Heck has joined the “Teaching Islam: Methods and Approaches" research group. Professor Heck is a leading scholar of Islamic Studies at Georgetown University, where he serves in the Department of Theology, College of Arts & Sciences. He is also the founding director of the Study of Religions Across Civilizations (SORAC), a program devoted to promoting interreligious and intercultural dialogue—particularly between the United States and the Muslim world.
His research encompasses a wide range of topics, including Islamic mysticism, skepticism in Islamic intellectual history, comparative scripture, political theology, martyrdom across the Abrahamic faiths, and theo-humanism. He also leads the Theo-Humanism Project under Georgetown's Humanities Initiative.
Beyond academia, Professor Heck is an active proponent of interfaith dialogue and has engaged deeply with Muslim communities globally.
We are excited to collaborate with him as we pursue innovative research and expand our understanding of Islamic education and Studies in contemporary contexts.
