About:

Dr. Oumama Emad Hamasha is an Assistant Professor in Islamic Studies and Ḥadīth Science at the University of Jordan and a former Chevening Visiting Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies. She earned her Ph.D. in Theologya and Religion\Islamic Studies, in 2018, following a Master’s degree Ḥadīth Science in 2011 and a Bachelor's degree in ʾUṣūl al-Dīn in 2008.
Her research explores Ḥadīth criticism, Qur’ānic hermeneutics, and the intersection of love and law in Islamic thought, with a particular focus on Ibn al-Qayyim’s methodology. She actively contributes to the Islamic Dialogue research group, addressing themes of ethical discourse, interfaith understanding, and the role of spirituality in legal traditions. Her scholarship on corruption, human commonalities, and maqāṣid al-sharīʿah integrates legal, theological, and psychological dimensions, offering interdisciplinary insights into contemporary societal challenges.
With extensive teaching experience in Europe and the Middle East, Dr. Hamasha is committed to fostering critical thinking, ethical values, and scholarly excellence. She actively engages in curriculum development and international academic dialogue, contributing to the advancement of Islamic studies through research, mentorship, and collaboration.​
