Dr Nurwina Anuar’s research is firmly centered on motivation, particularly in sports and education. Her work extensively explores mental skills and imagery techniques to enhance motivation and performance, especially among Paralympic athletes and students. She has investigated how self-talk and self-control contribute to athletes' psychological readiness, such as reducing pre-competition anxiety in badminton players and fostering resilience in educational settings.

In addition to her focus on motivation, Dr. Anuar has contributed to studies on mental health, mindfulness, and the therapeutic applications of imagery, including its role in managing depression and enhancing psychological well-being. Her work spans diverse areas such as equine-assisted therapy, aromatherapy, and Indigenous sports programs. Through her publications, she promotes sports equity and psychological well-being, combining her expertise in mental skills training with a commitment to advancing holistic health and education.​
