Research ethics workshop

The Deanship of Scientific Research held an advanced workshop titled Research Ethics, presented by Professor Mamoun Ahram from the Schoolof Medicine, along with Dr. Jennifer Muhaidat, Dr. Mayis Al-Dughmi, and Dr. Dania Qutaishat from the School of Rehabilitation Sciences. The workshop began with an explanation of the process for obtaining approval from the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at the Deanship of Scientific Research. It covered various topics, including the fundamentals and challenges of research ethics, data management, ethical handling of study samples, neutrality and objectivity, and the avoidance of fraud, plagiarism, or data falsification, among other key ethical issues in research. The workshop incorporated both theoretical aspects and an interactive practical framework to equip researchers with skills that promote a culture of research ethics. The presenters conducted discussion sessions for different groups of attendees, engaging them in case studies and practical examples. The workshop emphasized raising researchers' awareness of the importance of research ethics and the necessity of adherence to them, which enhances research collaboration and improves research quality. Notably, the workshop facilitators hold fellowships in responsible conduct of research from the University of San Diego, California. This workshop is part of a series organized by the Deanship of Scientific Research to enhance the research skills of faculty members and researchers.
