The Effect of Using the Generative Artificial Intelligence Assistant (Microsoft Copilot) in Developing Achievement Motivation among University of Jordan Students.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of using the generative AI assistant (Microsoft Copilot) on enhancing achievement motivation among University of Jordan students. The study followed a quasi-experimental design with two groups (experimental and control). The participants were selected from students registered in the life and practical skills/scientific sesearch course in the summer semester 2023/2024. Two sections were purposefully chosen: one as the experimental group consisting of )40(students who were taught using the generative AI assistant (Microsoft Copilot), and the other as the control group, also consisting of )40) students who were taught using traditional methods. To achieve the objectives of the study, a questionnaire consisting of (40) items was developed and distributed after assuring its validity and reliability. The results of the study showed statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups in achievement motivation on the post-test, in favor of the experimental group that was taught using the generative AI assistant. The study concluded with several recommendations, including adopting the obstetrical AI assistant (Microsoft Copilot) as an educational tool, and holding training courses for instructors on its use at the University of Jordan.
