The utilization of social media by professionals as a screening tool in the recruitment process has grown tremendously in our contemporary society. The essential purpose of this study is to investigate students' awareness of the usage of social media screening by prospective employers, factors that may influence their awareness, and whether their awareness would influence their behavior on social media platforms. The research employed a cross-sectional survey research design, to collect quantitative and qualitative data at a single point in time. The survey was distributed to students enrolled in the School of Business at the University of Jordan. The empirical results suggest a widespread awareness among students regarding the use of social media screening by employers in the recruitment process. Their awareness was significantly influenced by their age and academic classification but not by their gender. It was also found that the type of social media platform used by students does not affect their awareness. Moreover, the study revealed a significant influence of students' awareness on their behavior on social media. The findings of this paper are the first of their kind in Jordan, presenting implications that could assist recruiters, educational institutes, and students in their professional development progress.
