About:

​Dr. Deyala is an architect, and urbanist, with a special focus on brownfield rehabilitation and tactical urbanism issues under the wider framework of spatial justice. Currently interested in urban resilience forms in cities and the right to urbanization, smart cities applications, gender and urbanization, and constantly testing Western-claimed concepts in Middle-Eastern context more particularly in the case of Amman-Jordan. She is currently an Assistant Professor and the Chairperson for the Architecture Department at The University of Jordan . Deyala's research focusses on brownfield sites adaptive reuse, temporary urbanism and achieving spatial justice, in her work, she aims to constantly highlight contemporary urban issues more specifically in Middle Eastern contexts and bids to learn from international best practices. Dr. Deyala was the Former Vice President at Jordanian Forum for Environmental Planning 2022-2024​, and now she acts as a Formal Board Member in the Central Authority of the Architecture Division at The Jordanian Engineers Association (JEA). A founding member for the Watershed And Development Initiative (WADI), and a counselor and advisor for the Women In Engineering (WIE - IEEE), Affinity Group - University of Jordan.​
