Artistic Identity and Inspiration
As a Jordanian artist with deep Palestinian roots, my work is a personal dialogue with my heritage, memory, and emotions. Through my art, I seek to transcend displacement and separation, weaving stories of my homeland into intricate sculptures and installations. My practice involves multi-sectional sand molds, where I carve and paint abstract patterns that serve as visual representations of my inner landscape — a tapestry of longing, resilience, and identity.
Creative Journey and Education
With a Bachelor's in Printmaking from the University of Jordan and an MFA in Sculpture from Fort Hays State University, my academic path is interwoven with a global exploration of art. A residency in China further enriched my perspective, culminating in international exhibitions and workshops. As a university teacher, I am dedicated to nurturing new generations of artists, sharing the insights and experiences that have shaped my artistic journey.
Themes and Engagement
My art functions as a voice for the voiceless, transforming whispered memories into tangible forms that invite reflection and dialogue. The recurring motifs of lines, curves, and patterns symbolize displacement, hope, and the unbreakable bonds to homeland. My work has been showcased in various exhibitions across Jordan, the US, and internationally, consistently emphasizing cultural memory and resilience.
Global Engagement and Impact
In 2023, I had the honor of delivering a keynote speech at the Iron Tribe Conference in New Mexico — a moment that affirmed my voice within the global art community. This recognition motivates me to utilize my art as a tool for dialogue and empowerment, turning cultural heritage into universal expressions that foster understanding, empathy, and resilience. Through my sculptures and talks, I aim to inspire collective reflection on identity, displacement, and the enduring power of cultural memory.
