The 3rd NEXUS Conference

The 3rd NEXUS Conference, held in Amman, Jordan, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan Bin Talal and organized by the University of Jordan, focused on the interconnections between water, energy, food, environment, and solid waste management. The conference aimed to address Jordan's challenges in these areas through dialogue, collaboration, and innovative solutions.

Key themes included promoting sustainable practices in agriculture to combat hunger and preserve natural resources, empowering communities with access to clean water sources, and fostering renewable energy innovation. The conference highlighted the importance of integrated governance frameworks for managing resources and protecting the climate, as well as the role of collaborative partnerships among governments, industries, and communities.

Sessions covered a range of topics, including WEFE (Water-Energy-Food-Environment) nexus governance, priorities in Jordan, drivers for a green transition, and approaches to food security. Practical methods for implementing the NEXUS approach in Jordan's industrial sector and discussions on waste management, including recycling and composting, were also featured.

Overall, the conference provided a platform for high-level decision-makers, professionals, experts, academics, and students to network, exchange knowledge, and develop strategies for a more sustainable and resilient future in Jordan.
