Dr. Evon M. O. Abu-Taieh is a Professor of Information Systems and Computer Science, with a distinguished career in academia, research, and professional service. She earned her PhD in Computer Information Systems (Simulation) from the Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Sciences in Amman, Jordan, in 2005, and an MSc in Computer Science, specializing in Ciphering Systems and Genetic Algorithms, from Pacific Lutheran University in Washington State, USA, in 1994. Dr. Abu-Taieh also holds a BSc in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from Saint Martin’s College, Washington, USA, and a teaching certificate from the University of Cambridge, England.

Dr. Abu-Taieh has a rich academic career, having served as Acting Dean and Head of the Computer Information Systems and Business Information Technology faculties at the University of Jordan, Aqaba Branch. She has taught a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Operations Research, Expert Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Decision Support Systems, Database Management, and Multimedia in Education. She has also held teaching positions at the Arab International University in Damascus, Syria, where she taught courses on Discrete Systems Simulation, Modeling, and Algorithms.

Beyond academia, Dr. Abu-Taieh has substantial professional experience, including her role as GIS-SDI Consultant and Project Manager for the World Bank and as Economic Commissioner for the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission in Jordan. She has chaired and participated in numerous international conferences, including AITEM 2010 in New Orleans, USA, and has served as an editorial board member for leading journals such as the International Journal of E-Services and Mobile Applications and Journal of Information Technology Research.

Dr. Abu-Taieh’s research contributions are extensive, with publications addressing diverse topics such as simulation modeling, discrete event simulation, artificial intelligence, aviation technology, and information systems. Her works include editing and authoring significant publications such as Simulation and Modeling: Current Technologies and Applications and Technology Engineering and Management in Aviation: Advancements and Discoveries.

Her professional memberships include IEEE, IEEE Standards Association, IEEE Women in Engineering, and the IEEE Computer Society. Dr. Abu-Taieh has also contributed as a reviewer and program committee member for prestigious conferences like IBIMA and IMETI, showcasing her active involvement in the global academic and professional communities.

Dr. Abu-Taieh’s career exemplifies a balance between academic excellence, research leadership, and professional expertise, making her a prominent figure in the fields of information systems, simulation, and aviation technology.​
