Interactive Lecture on "Turkish Culture" within the "Turkish Civilization" Course

On August 20, 2025, during the summer term of the 2024-2025 academic year, an interactive lecture titled "Turkish Culture" was conducted as part of the Turkish Civilization course (2204436), organized by the course coordinator Dr. Bagdagul MUSSA. The lecture was attended by distinguished guests representing several countries: Arsen Uteshev from Kazakhstan, Zumrud Dadashova and Natavan Rizvan Agabeyli from Azerbaijan, and Nursultan Bazarbek uulu from Kyrgyzstan. During the lecture, Arsen Uteshev played the Kazakh national instrument "dombura" while Nursultan Bazarbek uulu read a part of the "Manas Epic," known as the longest epic in the world. Zumrud Dadashova and Natavan Rizvan Agabeyli provided information about Azerbaijan in Azerbaijani Language. By introducing themselves in their native languages and speaking in Azerbaijani, Kazakh, and Kyrgyz dialects of Turkish, the guests gave students the opportunity to hear contemporary Turkish languages directly.

After the guests' performances, students from the Turkish-English Department, who are taking the Turkish Civilization course, sang songs in Azerbaijani, Bashkir, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Tatar, Turkmen, and Uyghur languages, and performed the shadow play "Karagöz and Hacivat" (puppet shadow play), considered one of the finest examples of traditional Turkish theatre. At the end of the lecture, a theatrical performance of the story "Mete Khan's Love for the Homeland," about one of the most famous figures in Turkish history, Mete Khan, was staged. After the play, Certificates of Appreciation were presented to the guests, and group photos were taken with them in national costumes and with national instruments.

Certificates of Appreciation for the students who participated in the activity were also presented in the following lecture.

Through this interactive lecture, students were able to learn about Turkish Civilization not only through books and articles, or by watching videos and documentaries, but also through direct, hands-on experience.
