Abstract
Language is one of the most important elements that reflect a society’s way of thinking, lifestyle, value system, and cultural identity. In the process of language teaching,  it is important not only to focus on grammar but also to integrate cultural elements, enabling learners to comprehend the language within its natural context. In this regard, family and kinship terms form an essential part of vocabulary that reflects the cultural aspect of language and reveals the structure and relationships within a society.
In Turkish, words such as “abi”, “abla”, “dayı”, and “teyze” do not merely indicate biological relationships; they also convey cultural values such as respect, affection, sincerity, and social connectedness. Likewise, in Arabic, words like “akh”, “ukht”, “khal” and “amma” perform a similar linguistic function but may carry different layers of meaning depending on the cultural context.
The purpose of this paper is to highlight the importance of family and kinship terms in Turkish language teaching from the perspective of cultural transmission and language teaching, and to present a comparative analysis of their Arabic equivalents. By examining the concepts of kinship in both Turkish and Arabic linguistically and culturally, the study aims to provide a comparative evaluation of the value systems of the two societies. In this way, it emphasizes the role of culture in the language learning process and aims to help learners understand the worldviews of different societies through language.
