Medicinal Plants of the Near and Middle East in Research and Higher Education" “Workshop DAAD-Projekt PIANO Pharmazeutische Initiative für die Arzneipflanzen des Nahen Ostens in Forschung"

Keynote speake. Amman October, 2022.

Abstract: This research explores the potential of Jordan’s native flora for sustainable applications in agriculture and therapeutic industries, focusing on two key projects. The National Lavender Project aims to optimize the cultivation and extraction of Jordanian lavender species, including chemical profiling and agricultural best practices, to establish Jordan as a leading producer of high-quality essential oils for use in food, cosmetics, and healthcare products. The Botanical Pesticide Development Initiative investigates the use of native plant essential oils as eco-friendly pesticides, targeting pest species to enhance organic farming and local agricultural productivity. Together, these projects highlight the promising role of bioactive compounds from native plants in advancing natural product-based industries and supporting economic growth.
