Workshop on Hydroponics

​The Department of Geography held a specialized workshop on hydroponics titled “Hydroponics: Overcoming Soil Limitations to Achieve Agriculture in Non-Arable Lands,” featuring guest speakers Engineer Qusai Al-Ruwajefeh and Engineer Bakr Labzou. The workshop aimed to highlight the latest technologies in the field of hydroponics and its role in achieving food security and water conservation amidst the increasing challenges facing the agricultural sector. This workshop is part of ongoing efforts to develop the agricultural sector in Jordan and the region and to seek innovative solutions to address water scarcity and climate change challenges.

The workshop saw significant attendance from students, researchers, and those interested in sustainable agriculture. It focused on the importance of hydroponics as an innovative solution to the challenges facing traditional agriculture, especially in areas suffering from a lack of fertile soil.

The workshop included a series of discussions led by experts in the field, shedding light on hydroponic techniques and their benefits, such as water conservation and increased productivity. Successful experiences in applying these techniques in various environments were also presented.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the importance of research and development in hydroponics was emphasized as a means to achieve food security and environmental sustainability.
