Scientific Seminar on Sustainable Development from a Geographic Perspective

Under the patronage of the Vice President of the University for Academic and Engineering Affairs, Professor Ahmad Al-Alawna, the Department of Applied Geography at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities organized a scientific seminar titled "Sustainable Development from a Geographic Perspective," with the presence of the Deputy Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Ayman Al-Tahani.

Dr. A'id Tar'an, the head of the Department of Applied Geography, highlighted the importance of this scientific seminar in shedding light on the role of applied geography in advancing sustainable development through field efforts to uncover natural resources, develop transportation and trade methods, and establish spatial connectivity and interaction approaches that form a solid foundation for decision-makers in the field of sustainable development.

Dr. Khalid Al-Hazimeh, the head of the Geography Department at Yarmouk University, explained the role of remote sensing in sustainable development through the management and development of natural resources, environmental assessment and risk monitoring, and social and economic development. He also presented several case studies on the applications of remote sensing in the field of sustainable development.

Dr. Hind Al-Saraireh, head of the Geography Department at the University of Jordan, discussed population growth indicators and their impact on sustainable development, as well as their relationship with the science of geography. She emphasized how geography contributes to solving many issues related to developmental balance between regions and improving the distribution of development outcomes, as well as identifying areas of developmental poverty to achieve developmental justice.
