Department of Geography Conducts a Scientific Trip to the University of Jordan Farm in Deir Alla

The Department of Geography organized a scientific trip to the University of Jordan farm in Deir Alla, supervised by Professor Dr. Ziad Makhamreh, Dr. Heba Al-Khusaineh, and Dr. Ibrahim Farhan, in coordination with Engineer Haitham Al-Tawil and tour engineer Jaafar Al-Khalifat. The Agricultural Research Station is located in the Middle Ghors area (Deir Alla), about 370 meters below sea level, covering an area of 856 dunums. It is considered one of the main and significant facilities in the university due to its essential role in fulfilling the mission and strategy of the Faculty of Agriculture specifically and the University of Jordan in general. The station serves as a field for agriculture students and a fertile investment environment, as the area utilized for student training does not exceed 5% of the total station's area. The visit included the Animal Production Department (cattle, sheep, and goat barns and poultry cages) and also featured the Plant Production Department, which encompasses open-field crops, protected agriculture, and aquaponic farming in the Dutch greenhouse. The tour concluded with a visit to the date palm orchards of the "Majhool" and "Barhi" varieties and alfalfa circle crops, ending at the botanical garden. We would like to extend our thanks to the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Professor Dr. Ayed Al-Abdalat, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty, Professor Dr. Hossam Al-Titi, the Dean of the School of Arts, Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Qudaat, and Dr. Hind Al-Saraireh, Head of the Geography Department, for facilitating this visit and contributing to its success.
