"Al-Aqab Valley Basin in the Northeastern Jordanian Desert (A Study in Applied Geomorphology)

The study of water basins in arid and semi-arid areas characterized by limited water resources is of utmost importance. The study of hydrology and the management of river basins in dry regions has become one of the most significant topics in human exploitation and development today, due to the representation of these basins as essential developmental units encompassing all natural, economic, and social aspects. This has led to increased interest in them and more opportunities for their study, maintenance, and management.
Given that river valleys in dry environments are sensitive fundamental units that respond quickly to any changes in their basin systems, stakeholders in this field have included them in their responsibilities in an attempt to develop and reach optimal usage. This is seen as a form of solution to improve the water situation in those areas. Among the most important of these methods is the use of water harvesting, highlighting the significance of employing various technologies for water storage, given the sensitivity of these environments and the necessity to preserve their basin systems. Subsequently, this water can be reused in various aspects of life, achieving economic savings on one hand and environmental benefits on the other."
