​Mahmoud Abbas is currently a researcher and lecturer at School of Geography and Tourism, Jiaying University. He is working on investigation lacustrine deposits in the Jordanian desert using OSL dating method to provide a better understanding of the past climate and environment of the area and factors which led to human occupation since the migration of modern humans out of Africa.​
