Dr. Ismaiel Abuamoud is an Associate Professor in the Department of Tourism Management at the University of Jordan. He earned his Ph.D. in Economic Development and Tourism Economics from New Mexico State University in 2011. From 2020 to 2023, Dr. Abuamoud served as the Deputy Chief Commissioner and Commissioner of Petra Archaeological Park and Tourism at the Petra Development Tourism and Regional Authority (PDTRA). Prior to this, he held various academic positions at the University of Jordan, including Dean Assistant for Museums, Department Head of Tourism Management, Vice Dean, and Dean of the School of Archaeology and Tourism from 2014 to 2023. Earlier in his career, Dr. Abuamoud worked at the Higher Council for Science and Technology from 1996 to 2007, and served as an Assistant Professor at Hashemite University from 2012 to 2014. He has actively contributed to the academic community, participating in over 10 international conferences, publishing around 30 academic papers, and contributing to numerous international projects. His research interests focus on tourism economics, economic development, and sustainability. Additionally, Dr. Abuamoud has successfully secured two grants totalling approximately $400,000 to enhance the Museum and its programs.​
