Criminal Law research group has a variety of materials that can assist in carrying out their research in criminal law studies. First, there are legal databases like LexisNexis, Westlaw, and JSTOR that facilitate access to legal research articles, case law, statutes, and academic papers. These databases contain a comprehensive collection of legal materials that allow researchers to explore diverse legal issues and theoretical frameworks.
Besides international resources, the group can also use Jordanian legislation as a prime focus. Official government documents: The Jordanian Penal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code, together with any amendments that have been made, form the basic legal texts which any analysis of Jordanian criminal law would require. These legislative documents, combined with judicial opinions and case law from the Jordanian courts, create access to a great and varied range of legal precedents and their interpretations to the group, thereby enabling them to contextualize their research in the local legal landscape.
From an international perspective, access to treaties and conventions concerning criminal law and human rights will allow the researchers to investigate how international norms of the rule of law apply in Jordan. Likewise, data from forensic and crime reports collected by Public Security Directorate and other law enforcement agencies provide essential statistical information on crime patterns and forensic evidence.
Moreover, publications issued by the Jordanian National Centre for Human Rights, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch will be indispensable human rights reports on the relationship of criminal law to human rights. The research group can also make use of legal research institutions and academic books and monographs on criminal and comparative law which will enable its contributions to widen the debates and controversies over wider concepts of the law.
Workshops and conferences on criminal justice attendance will keep the group updated on the latest trends in research, while data from interviews with experts and questionnaires among practitioners of law, judges, and other stakeholders shall be useful in eliciting information of a practical nature. Governmental reports and white papers on reforms in criminal law and justice will be pivotal in underpinning current policy proposals and reform efforts in Jordan. Cumulatively, these resources contribute to the desired base for the goup to carry out informed, high-impact research into critical aspects of criminal law in Jordan and beyond.
