Dr. Bassam Al-Qarallah is an Associate Professor in the Department of Plant Production at the University of Jordan School of Agriculture. Holds a Ph.D. in Environmental and Biosystems Engineering from Kobe University, Japan, MSc in Agricultural Systems Engineering from Kyoto University, Japan and BSc in Agriculture from Mosul University, Iraq.
He served in the Ministry of Agriculture in Jordan, specializing in farm mechanization. In 2009, he transitioned to academia as an Assistant Professor at the University of Jordan's Institute of Agricultural Research, where he contributed through teaching, research, and advancing agricultural innovation.
Between 2014 and 2016, he coordinated the Modern Irrigation Training program in collaboration with JICA, focusing on enhancing irrigation efficiency and knowledge transfer. He later led efforts in Arid Area Agricultural Rehabilitation (2025–2026), driving sustainable farming solutions in dry regions. His consultancy work included designing agricultural equipment curricula for Enabel (2022–2023), and developing TVET programs focused on mechanization and hydroponics for GIZ in 2023.
Dr. Bassam Al-Qarallah's research focuses on smart agriculture, drone applications, farm mechanization, flash flood treatment, storage, grading, and cooling of produce, image processing, and rural development.
