Jordanian Public Institutions

Ministry of Culture


he partnership between the Jordanian Ministry of Culture and the History Department at the University of Jordan is complementary and strong. While the Ministry focuses on documenting and disseminating culture and heritage, the History Department concentrates on academic research, teaching, and graduating history specialists.

Cooperation also takes place between them in digitizing documentary and manual collections at the Ministry of Culture, such as manuscripts and official historical documents, to make them accessible to researchers.

The Department collaborates with the Ministry on surveying, documenting, and classifying historical and archaeological sites in Jordan.

In addition, they work together to promote cultural and historical awareness through the publication of books, research, and cultural periodicals, and by organizing cultural events such as lectures, and scientific and cultural symposia.

The Royal Hashemite Documentation Center


The Royal Hashemite Documentation Center regularly organizes seminars and conferences in cooperation with academic institutions. A prominent example is the seminar on "Dealing with Manuscripts and the Problem of Verification," which was held in collaboration with the Al-Furqan Islamic Heritage Foundation and included academics from the University of Jordan and Petra University.

Dr. Almahdi Alrawadieh and Dr. Mahran Al-Zoubi participated in the center's events by presenting research papers on topics such as manuscript authentication and historical writing.

The Scientific Research and Innovation Support Fund​


The partnership between the Scientific Research and Innovation Support Fund and the History Department at the University of Jordan contributes to advancing historical research and innovation in this field.

The Fund has provided funding for large-scale historical research projects such as "A Comparative Study of Cultural Changes in Bilad al-Sham Through the Ages" and "The Economic and Social History of Jordan." It has also funded the publication of peer-reviewed books and articles in scientific journals resulting from Fund-supported research, such as the study "Analysis and Evaluation of the Dead Sea Scrolls, and their Historical, Religious, Social, and Economic Dimensions within their General Civilizational Framework," prepared by Dr. Omar Al-Ghoul, Dr. Afaf Ziada, and Dr. Muhammad Al-Bakhit.

The Jordanian Academy of Arabic



Cooperation is underway between the Jordanian Academy of Arabic and the History Department at the University of Jordan in authenticating manuscripts and historical documents that contain significant linguistic texts, with a focus on the linguistic evolution of historical terminology.

Joint research has also been conducted on the origins and development of historical terms and concepts and their reflection on historical understanding throughout the ages.

Furthermore, the Academy organizes scientific and cultural conferences and symposia where history intersects with language, such as the symposium on "The Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language" held as part of the 11th Amman International Book Fair.

Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation​


Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation and the History Department at the University of Jordan converge in many interests. The Foundation is dedicated to supporting culture, sciences, and scientific research, while the History Department focuses on academic research and heritage preservation.

The Foundation funds projects for the documentation and digitization of rare historical archives and documents found in the History Department or the university's libraries.

Moreover, the Foundation organizes numerous scientific and cultural events and symposia on important historical topics, benefiting from Shoman Foundation's logistical and financial support and the History Department's academic expertise. An example of these events is the launch ceremony for the "State of Archives in Jordanian Ministries and Institutions" report, which hosted Dr. Ali Mahafzah from the History Department.

International Institutions

Al-Furqan Islamic Heritage Foundation


The partnership between Al-Furqan Islamic Heritage Foundation and our group is a project-based collaboration centered on the shared mission of preserving Islamic heritage, particularly manuscripts.

The foundation organizes conferences, seminars, and lectures on topics related to Islamic history and manuscripts, in addition to publishing academic works and critical editions of manuscripts. For example, the foundation published the critical editions of the following manuscripts:

  • Tarikh al-Quds wa al-Khalil (The History of Jerusalem and Hebron) by Sheikh Shams al-Din al-Khalili, in which Prof. Dr. Mohammad Adnan al-Bakhit participated in the verification.

  • Al-Tarikh al-Azimi (The History of Al-Azimi) by Abu Abdullah al-Azimi, verified by Prof. Dr. Issam Okleh.

  • Bughyat al-Talabah fi Tarikh Halab (The Aspiration of Students in the History of Aleppo) by Kamal al-Din Ibn al-Adim, verified by Dr. Almahdi Alrawadieh.

Sharjah International Foundation for the History of Muslim and Arab Sciences - UAE



Sharjah International Foundation for the History of Muslim and Arab Sciences and our group jointly organize academic events, such as the Winter School and various lectures and seminars.

These events, which are open to students, faculty, and experts, serve as a platform for sharing knowledge and fostering scholarly dialogue. A notable example is the 2022 Winter School on "Scholarly Traditions in Islamic Civilization," which featured a lecture by Dr. Issam Okleh on books and manuscripts in Islamic civilization.
The partnership facilitates the sharing of resources, including historical manuscripts, documents, and specialized libraries. This allows students and faculty from the history department to access the foundation's unique collections and participate in its specialized programs, which enhances their research and academic experience.

The Oasis Foundation (Fondazione Oasis) - Italy

The Oasis Foundation has a strong history of collaboration with various academic institutions. The nature of these partnerships is typically focused on events, research, and scholarly discussions.
As a cultural and research center, it's a great partner for collaborative projects, particularly on topics related to Islamic history and culture, and they have a documented interest in Ibn Khaldun's work.
The Oasis Foundation frequently partners with universities and academic centers to organize conferences and seminars. It also participates in a wide range of events that bring together academics, researchers, and the general public. These events, which can be hosted at universities or other cultural venues, often feature scholars presenting new research or discussing key topics. A good example is the series of lectures on Ibn Khaldun's work, which hosted Moroccan scholar Abdel Salam Cheddadi in an interview conducted by Dr. Martino Diez.


Kobe University- Japan



The partnership between Kobe University in Japan and our group is based on several key areas, leveraging their shared research interests, such as Dr. Takao Ito's project on the "History of Asia and Africa."

The two parties collaborate on research projects related to common historical topics. They also exchange research expertise, which provides a platform for presenting new research and discussing methodological challenges in historical studies.
