About:
*Professor Nihad A. Almasri, PT, PhD*, is a distinguished professor of pediatric physical therapy at the College of Health Sciences, Qatar University, and formerly at the University of Jordan. With over 15 years of academic, clinical, and research experience, she is internationally recognized for her expertise in pediatric rehabilitation, particularly in cerebral palsy and childhood disabilities.
Professor Almasri earned her PhD in 2010 and has since established herself as a leading researcher in family-centered care, outcome measures, and cerebral palsy registries. Her work focuses on improving the lives of children with disabilities and their families, with particular emphasis on developing countries and Arabic-speaking regions. She pioneered the first cerebral palsy surveillance registry in Jordan and is currently implementing multicenter registries across three Arabic-speaking countries.
Her scholarly contributions include over 72 peer-reviewed publications in prestigious journals such as JAMA Oncology, The Lancet, and Pediatrics, garnering more than 21121 citations with an h-index of 27. She has been instrumental in global burden of disease studies and has contributed significantly to understanding childhood disabilities worldwide.
In addition to her research, Professor Almasri serves as a consultant for World Physiotherapy and is President of the Arabic Academy of Childhood Development. Her commitment to advancing pediatric rehabilitation through evidence-based practice, education, and international collaboration continues to impact children with disabilities across the Middle East and globally.
