About:

Professor Eman F. Badran is a distinguished neonatologist and academic leader at the University of Jordan, where she serves as Professor of Pediatrics and Head of the Neonatal Unit. Over her extensive career, she has been at the forefront of neonatal care, especially in the field of neonatal infectious diseases. Her research has significantly shaped understanding and practice around antimicrobial resistance, neonatal sepsis, and infection control in the NICU. She has authored around 50 peer-reviewed publications directly related to infectious diseases, including: studies on candidaemia in newborns, MRSA surveillance in NICUs, neonatal gram-negative sepsis, and Clostridium difficile colonization in infants. Her work has addressed the pressing threat of multidrug-resistant organisms, exploring novel therapeutic strategies such as colistin use in neonates and evaluating antibiotic pharmacokinetics.

Professor Badran has also pioneered research at the intersection of digital health and infectious disease, most recently co-authoring a 2025 systematic review on the use of machine learning to enhance early detection of infectious diseases in the MENA region.

She is a sought-after speaker at pediatric infectious disease conferences across the Arab region and internationally, and continues to lead collaborative research efforts aimed at optimizing infection surveillance, neonatal antimicrobial stewardship, and global health preparedness in low resource settings.
