Antimicrobial Resistance in COVID Era.

A Podium talk was presented by Prof. N. Bulatova at the First Pan-Arab and the Second Jordanian Women Physicians Conference (Amman, Jordan). This presentation explores the interplay between the COVID-19 pandemic and the acceleration of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Factors contributing to increased AMR include heightened antibiotic misuse during the pandemic, disrupted healthcare systems, and secondary bacterial infections in COVID-19 patients. Key topics discussed include the epidemiological shifts in resistance patterns, the role of diagnostic advancements, and the impact of global health policies. Strategies to mitigate AMR, including stewardship programs, education, and research on novel antimicrobial agents, are emphasized as urgent priorities in maintaining public health resilience.
