The University of Jordan Launches an International Research Group in the Field of Fresh Produce Safety and Quality
The University of Jordan has launched an international research group specialized in the safety and quality of fresh agricultural products: Fresh Produce: Safety and Quality, with the aim of developing scientific and technical tools that contribute to enhancing food safety and quality throughout the food supply chain. This initiative reflects the university's commitment to applied scientific research as a driver of academic excellence and public health service.
The group focuses on studying sources of microbial and chemical contamination, developing effective prevention and control strategies, and improving preservation, transportation, and marketing techniques. It also works on analyzing consumption patterns and agricultural practices, linking research findings to food and health policies. The group collaborates with national and international institutions, including the Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration, as well as specialized university laboratories in the United States and Europe, benefiting from advanced expertise in laboratory analysis, digital tracking, and risk assessment.
