Dr. Nihad G. Alsmairat is a professor in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science at the University of Jordan. He specializes in postharvest physiology and technology of fresh fruits and has researched topics such as the genetic diversity of red-fleshed apples and the use of controlled atmospheres to evaluate the sensitivity of highbush blueberry fruit cultivars.​
