Dr James Hughes is an early career researcher and academic in the School of Nursing at the Queensland University of Technology. He currently occupies a Senior Lecturer position and is the Course Coordinator for postgraduate courses. Dr Hughes builds on his extensive experience as a senior nursing clinician in emergency and trauma centres in Australia and the Middle East to develop a program of research that aims to improve care and the safety of care delivery across acute care settings. With a special interest in the care of patients in pain and the application of Artificial Intelligence to research methods, Dr Hughes has amassed over 45 peer-reviewed publications, gained $4.5 million Australian dollars in grant support and supervised five Doctoral students. ​
