Associate Professor of Global Public Health, in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the School of Medicine- The University of Jordan and a senior Global Public Health researcher at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden. Dr. Taha received a PhD in Global Public Health from Karolinska institutet, Sweden. She has expertise in teaching, curriculum development and public health programs leadership with USAID projects and leading NGOs in Jordan. Her multicultural background and technical expertise enabled her to accomplish success in assignments embracing Covid-19 surveillance and outbreaks investigations, health management, health systems strengthening, gender equity and women empowerment, noncommunicable diseases, maternal and child health, reproductive health, and family planning in Syrian refugees' camps in Jordan and Lebanon.
Dr. Taha a has a global perspective to public health, a wealth of international experience and in-depth knowledge of teaching using innovative adult learning techniques. She is a monitoring and evaluation expert, and her skills include: the development of M&E plans and setting key performance indicators; designing and implementing public health studies using quantitative and qualitative research methods (SPSS, Stata, Nvivo), evaluation of the effectiveness of health interventions, undertaking baseline surveys; analysis of research results and contextual interpretation of the findings; submitting reports to donors; writing scientific manuscripts and promoting research uptake for decision making and policy formulation.
Dr. Taha was a key member in the Jordanian Ministry of Health (MoH) strategic planning team. Her networking skills enabled her to secure advocacy and governance support for strengthening the health system in Jordan. She has vast competence in establishing multistakeholder and cross-sector partnerships, evidence-based policy development, civil society and social mobilization, grass roots-initiated health promotion, social marketing, and capacity building, writing research grants proposals and managing grants.
Dr. Taha is a member in Sweden's university teachers and researchers union, SULF. She is also an active member in the International Academy of Public health, Jordan's Economic Policies Development Forum, Jordan's Women Health Alliance and Empowerment Committee. She worked closely with senior government and MoH officials in the EMR region and collaborated with multitude of international and donor agencies for the integration of Syrian refugees within the hosting communities in the north of Jordan.
