International Conference on "Spiritual Therapy in Palliative Care"
Members of the Palliative Cancer Care Research Group participated in the 2nd palliative International Conference on "Spiritual Therapy in Palliative Care," held at the University of Jordan in Amman. The conference provided an opportunity for healthcare professionals to exchange research findings and innovative ideas in the field of spiritual care.
The event focused on the integration of spiritual therapy within palliative care. Key themes included spiritual care modilities, spiritual assessment, and awarness session in spiritual care. Additional topics covered were symptoms and pain management, end-of-life issues, home care, psychosocial aspects of palliative care, and complementary therapies.
The conference emphasized the importance of expanding palliative care services to address spiritual care, which is crucial for all patients with life-limiting illnesses. it highlighted the role of spirituality in improving patients' quality of life and alleviating the burden of illness on the patients and their families.
The two-day conference featured 15 research papers, five workshops, and three panel discussions. It attracted over 200 healthcare professionals from Jordan and the world. The main focus was advancing the dialogue on palliative and spiritual care in the region. Dr. Ruqayya Zeilani presented a research paper entitled, "Muslim Women’s Experiences of Spiritual Care in Jordan."
