This project will focus on designing a reconfigurable microstrip antenna enhanced with Artificially Magnetic Conductors (AMC) intended for IoT applications. The design will start with the single-element design at the required frequency that meets the specified characteristics. Several parametric analyses will be conducted to examine their effects and to reach an optimized design. Switching techniques such as PIN diode(s) or varactor(s) will be implemented to achieve reconfigurability in the antenna polarization, frequency, or pattern. After that, the design will be expanded to a two- or four-element MIMO or array design with as few substrate dimensions as possible to compete with the current antenna designs. Antenna characteristics such as reflection coefficient, radiation pattern, input impedance, gain, and efficiency will be investigated. If possible, the designed antenna(s) will be fabricated to compare their results with the simulated results.
