Achievements

Our group is driven by ambitious goals, with one of our most significant aspirations being the comprehensive mapping of sleep medicine across Asia. This ongoing initiative involves four dedicated members from our team, all working towards expanding and refining the field. A key figure in this endeavor is Prof. Ahmed BaHammam, a distinguished leader in sleep medicine both in the Arab world and globally. Prof. BaHammam's contributions are unparalleled; since his appointment as a Full Professor of Medicine at King Saud University in 2006, he has pioneered several groundbreaking initiatives. He established the first academic sleep disorders center in Saudi Arabia in 2001 and created the region's inaugural Sleep Medicine Fellowship program in 2009. His efforts in developing regulations for the accreditation of sleep medicine specialists and sleep technologists, founding the Saudi Thoracic Society and Saudi Sleep Medicine Group, and conducting numerous workshops highlight his profound impact. Prof. BaHammam's extensive publication record, including over 300 scientific articles, and his role as Editor and Associate Editor for leading journals further underscore his expertise.

In addition to Prof. BaHammam, our group benefits from the expertise of Professor Haitham Jahrami, the Chief of Rehabilitation Medicine Services at Government Hospitals in Bahrain and Associate Professor at the Arabian Gulf University. Dr. Jahrami, with his PhD from the University of Ulster, brings substantial research acumen, particularly in systematic reviews and meta-analyses, with approximately 200 papers to his name. His experience and leadership are vital in advancing our research and training programs.

Our group's research initiatives are further enriched by the involvement of Professor Nathir Obeidat, a prominent figure in the field of medicine. Professor Obeidat currently serves as the President of the University of Jordan, a role he has held since August 10, 2021. His extensive background includes serving as the Minister of Health and the Dean of the School of Medicine at the University of Jordan from 2016 to 2018. With a master's degree in Internal Medicine from the University of Jordan earned in 1993, he has established himself as a leading professor of Medicine with over 70 articles published in ISI and Scopus-indexed journals. Professor Obeidat's academic and administrative experience, combined with his research expertise, significantly bolsters our group's capability to drive advancements in sleep medicine and contribute to the development of a comprehensive sleep medicine curriculum in Jordan.

Together, these esteemed professionals and our dedicated and ambitious team are committed to elevating sleep medicine in Asia and beyond. Our collective efforts aim to foster a deeper understanding of sleep disorders, enhance clinical practices, and improve patient care across the region, setting new standards and achieving lasting impacts in the field.
