Prof. Abeer Al-Bawab started her academic career with the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Jordan (1998) and continued her career until she obtained the rank of Associate Professor (2004), and then Professor (2008).

Currently she is a director of nanotechnology center at The University of Jordan, Jordan (2024- now)

She served as Director of a Research Center (Hamdi Mango Center for Scientific Research (2008-2014) & Dean of Scientific Research (2014-2014), at the University of Jordan, then Director of Scientific Research Fund at the Ministry of Higher Education (2017-2018)

-Dr. Al-Bawab is an active member of several local and international committees and councils such as; a member of the Board of Trustees of the Jordan University of Science and Technology, (JUST) (2022-2025), President of the Jordan Chemical Society (2014-2018 & 2022-2028), chairperson of Higher Education Reform Experts (HEREs) since -2014-202 and is still a member in the group (2022-2026), former Vice President of the Association of Jordanian Academies. She was a member of the Board of Trustees of Princess Sumaya University for Technology (2014-2017). She was elected as member in science broad in IUPAC (2025-2026).​
