​Dr. Haneen Altartouri is an Assistant Professor in the College of Information Technology at Fujairah University, UAE, where she joined in August 2024. She earned her PhD in Engineering with a specialization in machine learning from the Institut für Neuroinformatik at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany (2018–2021). Her PhD dissertation, “Improving the classification of protein sequence functions by reducing the heterogeneity of datasets,” applied classification, clustering, and visualization algorithms to biological problems. Prior to that, she completed a Master of Informatics and a Bachelor in Information Technology at Palestine Polytechnic University, Hebron.​
