The Collaborative Research Programme (CRP) - ICGEB Research Grants supports innovative research projects in ICGEB Member States, focusing on basic science, healthcare, biotechnology, and bioenergy. Established in 1988, the program aims to foster international collaboration, training, and the development of research facilities.
The Higher Council for Science and Technology (HCST) in Jordan, established in 1987, serves as the national body overseeing science and technology activities. It aims to develop the country's scientific base, promote research, and guide activities that align with national development goals. HCST is instrumental in increasing awareness of scientific research, securing funding, and directing research projects in line with Jordan's development priorities.
The Scientific Research Support Fund (SRSF) in Jordan is a key initiative under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research designed to foster scientific research and innovation in the country. Established to align with national priorities, it focuses on funding research projects with practical applications that can contribute to solving local challenges in various fields, such as healthcare, agriculture, water, and energy.
The Fund plays an essential role in supporting both basic and applied research by providing financial backing for projects that have the potential to drive innovation.
The King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD), established in 2001, is a key initiative to promote sustainable development in Jordan by supporting projects that align with national development priorities. It fosters innovation, supports entrepreneurship, enhances youth employment, and builds capacity across various sectors. KAFD has launched numerous programs, including the Tariqi project, which offers technical training to improve the employability of Jordanian youth, and the Undergraduate Research & Innovation Support Project, which funds university students' innovative research projects.
SESAME (Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East) is a significant scientific research facility located in Allan, Jordan. Officially opened in 2017, it is the first synchrotron light source in the Middle East. The facility operates a 2.5 GeV synchrotron light source that generates intense light beams, ranging from infrared to X-rays, for advanced research across various scientific fields such as materials science, physics, biology, medicine, and environmental studies. SESAME serves as a hub for regional scientific cooperation, offering a platform for scientists to conduct cutting-edge experiments and foster cross-border collaboration.
