About:

Dr. Abeer Al-QAtati is currently an Associate Professor of Clinical Chemistry and Endocrinology at the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences at the Faculty of Science, University of Jordan. Dr. Abeer holds certification as a Medical Laboratory Specialist (MLS) from the Ministry of Health in Jordan. She obtained her B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Sciences from the Faculty of Science at UJ in 1996 and her master's degree in clinical biochemistry and Endocrinology from Faculty of Medicine at UJ in 2001.  Dr. Abeer worked first as a Medical Technologist, then as an instructor in the department of Biomedical Sciences at Arab Community College Amman, Jordan and then at Al-Azhar university/Gaza.

In 2006, Dr. Abeer obtained Fullbright scholarship to continue her Ph.D. from Colorado State University-USA. Dr. Abeer holds the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board as a Specialist in Clinical Chemistry, SC (ASCPi). Dr. Abeer published several papers in peer-reviewed journals, and led collaborative projects.

Dr. Abeer received the L'Oreal Unisco for Women in Science Fellowship in 2015 for her research about cancer, and in the same year, she was awarded another fellowship called Zamallah in order to obtain her post-doctoral degree in Germany at the University Medical Center Hamburg- Eppendorf. Also, she was awarded a distinguished woman researcher in biomedical sciences by the Venus International Foundation in 2023. She was awarded a scholarship from UNICAF in cooperation with Liverpool John Moores University to study MSc in international public health. This opportunity will enhance her familiarity in research methodology, global health topics, public health epidemiology, and health improvement.

In 2023, Dr Abeer was awarded the Daniel Turnberg UK/Middle East Travel Fellowship and  accepted by a host lab in Manchester Metropolitan University to study the relation between the advanced glycation in the products (AGE) and oxidative stress.

She is certified as Allied health instructor from the American Medical Technologists.

Dr. Abeer's research interest aims to find biomarkers in diseases like cancer, non alcoholic fatty liver disease and diabetic foot ulcer.​
