Eng. Bassam Maharmeh’s research interests focus on advancing cybersecurity strategies, information assurance, and national security frameworks. With a profound understanding of cyber defense and electronic warfare, his work addresses the challenges of securing critical infrastructure, enhancing cybersecurity resilience, and developing innovative solutions for both governmental and military organizations. His expertise lies in formulating cybersecurity policies, implementing national cybersecurity strategies, and exploring advanced technologies in information systems security.
Biography
Eng. Bassam Maharmeh is the President of Jordan’s National Cybersecurity Center (NCSC-JO), where he leads national initiatives to strengthen Jordan's cybersecurity posture. He has over two decades of experience in the cybersecurity domain, having worked in leadership roles such as the Director of Jordan's National Cybersecurity Program (JNCP) and the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the Jordanian Armed Forces. He also served as a Cybersecurity Consultant for the Government of Qatar from May 2018 to March 2022.
Eng. Maharmeh holds an MSEE in Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance and an MSEWSE in Electronic Warfare System Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School, USA. He also earned a BSc in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering from Mutah University, Jordan.
Throughout his career, Eng. Maharmeh has been instrumental in driving national cybersecurity initiatives and has actively contributed to NATO's Cybersecurity Strategy Implementation Program. His work in shaping and leading national cybersecurity policies continues to have a significant impact on the development of secure digital infrastructures in the Middle East.
