Professor Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Kilani, Dean of the Faculty of Sharia at the University of Jordan, and Professor Dr. Abdullah Al-Kilani, Professor of Fiqh and Usul, participated in the 46th Al Baraka Islamic Economics Forum, held under the theme: “The Philanthropy Sector in Islamic Economics: Towards a New Future.”
Professor Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Kilani underscored the importance of advancing the philanthropy sector from individual initiatives to an institutional framework grounded in governance, transparency, and accountability, enabling it to play a more effective role in development and in empowering vulnerable groups to transition from receiving aid to becoming active contributors to economic growth.
Professor Dr. Abdullah Al-Kilani emphasized the need to modernize the waqf system and transform it into an integrated developmental framework that harmonizes Sharia principles with institutional governance. He highlighted the importance of leveraging technology to enhance charitable and philanthropic initiatives, viewing waqf as a comprehensive economic instrument for human and civilizational development.
The forum witnessed broad participation from scholars, experts, and decision-makers representing 18 countries, reaffirming its position as one of the leading global platforms advancing Islamic economic thought and enriching dialogue on contemporary economic issues.
