The Philosophy of Material and Spiritual Civilization

The philosophy of material and spiritual development (ʿImrān) is founded on achieving harmony between building the human being and building the environment. It goes beyond constructing physical infrastructure and advancing economic resources to encompass the reinforcement of ethical values, the revival of social responsibility, and the activation of Maqasid al-Sharia across all aspects of life. Material development represents the visible dimension of sustainable progress, while spiritual development reflects its moral and intellectual depth, enabling societies to combine civilizational advancement with adherence to Islamic principles.
Within our research interests, we explore the role of Maqasid al-Sharia in achieving comprehensive development, by establishing precise standards for their implementation in economic and social policies, critically evaluating contemporary Maqasid-based projects, and constructing a methodological framework for Maqasid-oriented critique. We also examine their impact on regulating modern fatwas, addressing family-related challenges, and linking these efforts to the concept of sustainable development that integrates both material and spiritual dimensions of ʿImrān.
