Dr. Abdulrahman Ibrahim Abdulhaleem Zaid Al-Kilani Dean of the Faculty of Sharia at the University of Jordan and Professor of Islamic Jurisprudence, Legal Theory, and Maqasid al-Sharia in postgraduate programs. His scholarly contributions center on the theory and application of Maqasid al-Sharia, reflected in pioneering studies on al-Shatibi’s principles of Maqasid, the practical implementation of objectives in legal rulings, and the role of Qur’anic objectives in fostering universal human values. He has explored nuanced themes such as balancing devotion with consideration of objectives in zakat rulings, and applying public interests (masalih mursalah) in family law. Beyond research, Dr. Al-Kilani has actively participated in international conferences addressing contemporary challenges—ranging from pandemics to medical and family issues—through the lens of Maqasid. With supervision of over forty graduate theses, he has shaped generations of scholars. He also serves on several Sharia boards for Islamic financial institutions and is a recognized expert at the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, where classical legal theory meets the realities of modern life.up Member
