Dr. Al-Hassan Shahid
Professor at the Faculty of Usul al-Din, Abdelmalek Essaâdi University, Tetouan, Morocco, specializing in Usul al-Fiqh and Maqasid al-Sharia. His scholarly interests focus on critical discourse in legal theory, the maqasid paradigm and its interdisciplinary connections.

Dr. Shahid has authored numerous studies on the theory of usuli critique in al-Shatibi’s thought and on tracing the transformations of usuli discourse since al-Shafi‘i’s Risalah. He was awarded the Arab Book Prize in Doha, Qatar (2025) in the category of Islamic sciences for his groundbreaking work “Al-Shafi‘i’s Risalah: Context, Methodology, and Discourse – A Study in Usuli Epistemology.”

Beyond this, he is deeply engaged in applying an integrative approach between the sciences of revelation and the sciences of nature through a maqasid-based vision. He has participated in numerous national and international conferences on usuli and maqasid thought and contributed scholarly works published in this field, alongside academic media engagements.

Dr. Shahid serves as Editor-in-Chief of the series “Maqasid Issues” published by the Moroccan Association for Research in Maqasid Thought. He supervises theses and research projects on usuli and maqasid studies in Moroccan universities and is an active member of several scientific bodies. He also acts as a peer reviewer for numerous international journals specializing in maqasid research.​
