Professor Iyad Participates in the 2024 5th International Conference on Communications, Information, Electronic and Energy Systems (CIEES)

The paper titled "A Lightweight Efficient U-Net Model for Audio Super-Resolution" was presented by Professor Iyad Jafar at the 5th International Conference on Communications, Information, Electronic, and Energy Systems (CIEES 2024), which took place from November 17 to 19, 2024, in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. Organized by the Association on Communication, Information, Electronic, and Energy Systems in collaboration with the IEEE Bulgarian Section, the conference provided a platform for researchers and professionals to exchange knowledge on recent advancements in areas such as telecommunications, artificial intelligence, and smart technologies.

In this study, a lightweight U-Net model for audio super-resolution was developed to enhance the quality of low-resolution audio signals. A deep learning-based approach was employed to reconstruct high-resolution audio while maintaining computational efficiency. The model was designed to require fewer resources compared to existing solutions, making it suitable for real-time applications. Its effectiveness was demonstrated through extensive evaluations, showing significant improvements in audio quality across various scenarios.

During the presentation, the model’s architecture, training methodology, and performance metrics were discussed. Comparisons with existing techniques were provided to highlight improvements in efficiency and accuracy. Additionally, the potential applications of the model, including its use in speech enhancement and music restoration, were explored. The session facilitated discussions on future research directions and challenges associated with audio super-resolution, allowing for valuable feedback from experts in the field.
